Crispy Pita Tacos with Tzatziki
Crispy Pita Tacos with Tzatziki
A quick and flavorful weeknight recipe that combines crispy pita, savory ground meat, and a refreshing homemade tzatziki. These are fun to assemble, satisfying to eat, and easy to customize with whatever’s in your fridge.
Ingredients:
For the Tacos:
Pita bread (small rounds or cut in half for easier folding)
1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, or lamb work well)
Olive oil
Salt & pepper
Garlic granules
For the Toppings:
Shredded iceberg lettuce
Persian cucumber, diced or sliced
For the Tzatziki:
1 cup Greek yogurt
1/2 Persian cucumber, shredded and squeezed dry
1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/4 tsp garlic granules
1/2 tsp dried dill (or fresh, if available)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Tzatziki:
In a bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, shredded cucumber, salt, garlic granules, and dill. Set aside in the fridge to chill.
2. Assemble the Tacos:
In a bowl, season the ground meat with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic granules.
Spread a thin layer of the seasoned meat onto one side of each pita.
Fold the pita in half, taco-style, pressing gently so the meat sticks inside.
3. Bake:
Place folded pitas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15–17 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked and the pita is golden and crisp.
4. Serve:
Fill each crispy taco with shredded iceberg lettuce, diced cucumber, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki. Serve warm and enjoy!
