Cream Cheese Puff Pastries (Starbucks-Inspired Treat)
Cream Cheese Puff Pastries (Starbucks-Inspired Treat)
These were one of my absolute favorite sweet treats growing up—I used to beg my mom to grab them for me from Starbucks, and my cravings for these had no bounds. It’s so fun to make them at home, and they’re perfect with a cup of coffee. Plus, they only require a few simple ingredients!
Ingredients:
1 pack puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
1 package cream cheese (8 oz)
3 tbsp organic cane sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp lemon juice
1 egg yolk (for the filling)
1 egg + the reserved egg white (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
In a bowl, combine the cream cheese, organic cane sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and egg yolk. Mix until smooth using a hand mixer or fork.
2. Prep the Puff Pastry:
Allow the puff pastry to slightly thaw. Cut into small rectangles.
Lightly score a smaller rectangle inside each one to form a pocket, being careful not to cut all the way through.
3. Assemble:
Place pastry rectangles on parchment-lined baking sheet.
Add a heaping tablespoon of cream cheese filling into the center of each scored area.
Brush edges with an egg wash (1 egg + reserved egg white).
4. Bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden and puffed. Watch closely toward the end to prevent overbaking.
5. Serve:
Let cool slightly and enjoy warm with a hot cup of coffee or tea. These flaky, creamy, lightly sweet pastries are perfect for the holidays—or any time of year.
