    • 4 garlic cloves, crushed

    • 1 tbsp olive oil

    • 1 yellow onion, chopped

    • 1 large can fire-roasted tomato sauce

    • 2 bell peppers, chopped

    • 1 cup bone broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian option)

  • Seasonings:

    • Chili powder (to taste)

    • Garlic powder

    • Smoked paprika

    • Salt

    • 1 bay leaf

    • Onion powder

    • Roasted cumin

    • Cayenne pepper

  • Garnishes:

    • Nancy’s probiotic sour cream

    • Shredded Mexican cheese

    • Shallots (preferred over red onions)

    • Sliced Serrano peppers

    • Tortilla chips

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Pot: In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: Add chopped onions and sauté for 1-2 minutes until softened. Stir in crushed garlic and cook until fragrant.

  3. Brown the Turkey: Add ground turkey, cooking until slightly browned.

  4. Season the Meat: Sprinkle in chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, onion powder, cumin, and a dash of cayenne. Cook, stirring, for about 4-5 minutes to let the spices bloom.

  5. Add Liquids and Vegetables: Pour in the fire-roasted tomato sauce and bone broth. Add the chopped bell peppers and bay leaf.

  6. Simmer: Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and let simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

To Serve:

Ladle the chili into bowls and top with a spoonful of sour cream, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, sliced Serrano peppers, chopped shallots (or red onions if preferred), and tortilla chips.
